The Bahria University Journal of Information and Communication Technologies (BUJICT) is a peer reviewed bi-annual multidisciplinary journal of engineering sciences. It accepts manuscripts prepared in accordance with the uniform requirements of Journal Submissions which are as follows:
- Regular paper – 10 pages (including reasonably-sized figures and references).
- Short paper – 3 pages (including reasonably-sized figures and references).
- Special Issue Paper (consent of the special issue editor).
Submissions must include all of the following elements: Title of the paper, abstract, index terms, illustrations, and bibliography. References should adhere to the specific standards, which have already been defined in the template of BUJICT. Figures and tables must be sized as they are to appear in print. Figures should be placed exactly where they are to appear within the text. Figures not correctly sized will be returned to the author for reformatting.
1. Peer Review Policy
The length of the review process may vary between papers, and many factors affect the time it takes to review a paper. The time it takes for an Associate Editor to be assigned and for qualified referees to be located who are available to handle the review of a paper depends on the complexity and the type of material submitted for review.
BUJICT makes a concerted effort to keep the review time to a minimum that is consistent with keeping its reputation for quality and integrity. Each submission placed into review is sent to at least two reviewers, making one submission correspond to roughly two review requests. Based on this information, the review process may take approximately three to six months to be completed.
2. Plagiarism Policy
BUJICT follows the HEC guidelines regarding the Plagiarism Policy. Each manuscript will be scrutinized for originality check by Turnitin.
3. Preliminary Published / Conference Version(s)
If any portion of your submission has appeared or will appear in a conference or workshop, you should inform us of this and make sure that the submission references the conference publication and supply a copy of the conference paper to us. Also, please provide a brief description of the differences between the submitted manuscript and the preliminary paper.
Please be aware that editors and reviewers are required to check the submitted manuscript to determine whether a sufficient amount of new material has been added to warrant publication in BUJICT. Our one of the key requirements is that authors should only submit original work that has neither appeared elsewhere for publication, nor which is under review for another refereed publication. If authors have used their own previously published material as a basis for a new submission, they are required to cite the previous work(s) and very clearly indicate how the new submission offers substantively novel or different contributions beyond those of the previously published work(s). Any manuscript not meeting this criterion will be rejected. Copies of any previous published work affiliated with the new submission must also be included as supportive documentation upon submission.
4. Contents of Manuscript for submission
Submission items includes the Manuscript [Abstract, Index Terms, Introduction, Proposed Methodology, Obtained Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, References, Tables and Figures etc.] along with the BUJICT Copyright Form duly filled and signed by the Authors. The manuscript template can be downloaded from http://www.bujict.bahria.edu.pk/manuscript-templates/.
– Abstract: It should have no more than 150 words for unstructured abstracts or 250 words for structured abstracts. The abstract should state the purpose of the study (objective), basic procedures and proposed methodology, main findings (results) and conclusion. It should emphasize new and important aspects of the study. Below the abstract provide, 3-10 index terms that will assist indexers in cross-indexing the article and may be published with the abstract.
– Introduction: State the purpose of the article and summarize the rationale for the study. Explain the hypothesis and the requirement of the research. Give only strictly pertinent references and do not include data or conclusions from the work being reported.
– Proposed Methodology: Based on the Literature Review, introduce the novelty of your work clearly and legibly. Discuss the technical aspects of the proposed framework in detail that may include the necessary models, important equations with derivations, certain theorems the required proofs that depicts the efficacy of your presented methodology.
– Results Present your results in logical sequence in the text, tables, and illustrations. Do not repeat in the text all the data in the tables or illustrations; emphasize or summarize only important observations. Specify any general-use computer programs employed for analysis.
– Discussion & Conclusion Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that follow from them. Do not repeat in detail data or other material given in the Introduction or the Results section. Include in the Discussion section the implications of the findings and their limitations, including implications for future research. Relate the observations to other relevant studies. Link the conclusions with the goals of the study.
– Acknowledgement: List all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship, such as a person who provided purely technical help, writing assistance, or a department chair who provided only general support. Financial and material support should also be acknowledged.
– References: Majority of the references must be from last five years. They must include Published Articles, Books, Chapters, Online Website Links etc. However, online website links must include the last browsing date.
– Tables: Type or print out each table with double spacing on a separate sheet of paper. Number tables consecutively in the order of their first citation in the text and supply a brief title for each. Give each column a short or abbreviated heading. Place explanatory matter in footnotes. Explain in footnotes all nonstandard abbreviations that are used in each table. Identify statistical measures of variations, such as standard deviation and standard error of the mean. Do not use internal horizontal and vertical rules.
– Illustrations (Figures): Figures should be professionally drawn and photographed. Photographic prints 127 x 173 mm (5 x7 inches). Photomicrographs should have internal scale markers. Symbols, arrows, or letters used in photomicrographs should contrast with the background. If photographs of people are used, either the subjects must not be identifiable or their pictures must be accompanied by written permission to use the photograph. Figures should be numbered consecutively according to the order in which they have been first cited in the text. If a figure has been published, acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce the material. All the Figures should be in “.eps” format.
5. Concurrent Submission
All submissions must represent original and novel material. We discourage submitting to more than one publication at one time. If it is determined that a paper has already appeared in anything more than a conference proceedings, or appears in or will appear in a submission to any other publication before the editorial process is completed, the paper will be automatically rejected and respective author (s) would be banned for any further submission in future.
